Dat zei een Palestijns panellid, tijdens het gesprek over beeldende kunst in Gaza in Bar Edward-Trefpunt op 23 november. Het panel bestond uit Bint Mbareh, Mohammed Joha, Rehaf Al Batniji, Aser El Saqqa, en Rojin Delfan als moderator. Frank Roels maakte er dit verslag over.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bint Mbareh, Mohammed Joha, Rehaf Al Batniji en Aser El Saqqa gaven toelichting bij hun schilderijen, foto\u2019s en installaties, te zien in meerdere zalen op twee verdiepingen, met uitgebreide toelichting over eerdere tentoonstellingen in vele landen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Al deze Palestijnse kunstenaars vertelden hoe moeilijk hun reizen verliepen, dat hun werken bijna niet uit Londen naar Gent geraakten, enzovoort. De jonge fotografe Rehaf uit Gaza was nog nooit op de Westelijke Jordaanoever geweest, want verplaatsingen van Palestijnen worden door de Isra\u00eblische roadblocks en beperkingen onmogelijk gemaakt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hun werken waren reeds vervoerd vooraleer de huidige oorlog tegen Gaza begon of waren zeer recent in West-Europa gemaakt. Twee tentoonstellende kunstenaars zitten nog steeds vast in Gaza: Majed Shala en Nidal Abu Oun, de laatste is er zelfs geboren. Ze wonen nu in tenten: hun huis met 30 jaar kunstwerken is volledig verwoest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dankzij deze beelden worden herinneringen en documenten bewaard, terwijl in Gaza (en op de Westelijke Jordaanoever) door de Isra\u00eblische bombardementen en vuurzee alle archieven en kunst worden vernietigd. Onze herinneringen, zo merkte de moderator op, vervagen en veranderen met de tijd (heel correct, zie de wetenschappen).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gelukkig zijn er foto\u2019s. Zo zei een panellid: \u201cVroeger was Gaza vol groene akkers en boomgaarden; maar niets is daarvan nog over\u201d. Gaza is niet zichtbaar in veel schilderwerken; de zee en gezonken boten zijn vandaag universeel. Zie het schilderij van Mohammed Joha, \u201cLost track 3, 2014 (boven dit artikel).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/eyeonpalestine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/IMG_1838-640x480-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1158\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eyeonpalestine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/IMG_1838-640x480-1.jpeg 640w, https:\/\/eyeonpalestine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/IMG_1838-640x480-1-300x225.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Een montage door Nidal Abu Oun toont bundels huissleutels, een verwijzing naar het verjagen van de bewoners door Isra\u00eblische militairen, maar toch een geloof dat de eigenaars ooit zullen kunnen terugkeren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"87\" src=\"https:\/\/eyeonpalestine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/IMG_1835-480x87-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1159\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eyeonpalestine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/IMG_1835-480x87-1.jpeg 480w, https:\/\/eyeonpalestine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/IMG_1835-480x87-1-300x54.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Een lange reeks foto\u2019s zijn close-ups van oude en jonge vissers met ernaast een vis die ze vingen en hun beider namen. Maar is dat niet symbolisch? De zee is door Isra\u00ebl verboden voor Palestijnen, ze riskeren dus hun leven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Majed Shala tekent figuren die beschilderd zijn met prachtige, elegante Arabische lettertekens, alsof ze spreken met elkaar. Maar de letters betekenen niets (zo zegde mij een panellid).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"546\" src=\"https:\/\/eyeonpalestine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/IMG_1849-480x546-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eyeonpalestine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/IMG_1849-480x546-1.jpeg 480w, https:\/\/eyeonpalestine.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/IMG_1849-480x546-1-264x300.jpeg 264w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Panelleden stelden ook de vraag: \u201cHoe is het mogelijk dat de wereld deze genocide laat gebeuren? \u201cIs de Isra\u00eblische oorlog een test met technieken die ze dan naar hier zullen exporteren?\u201d \u201cIsra\u00ebl heeft geen grenzen op enige landkaart; het is een koloniale mogendheid die zich langzaam verder uitbreidt\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Het schoot mij te binnen dat de Isra\u00eblische \u201cWet op de terugkeer\u201d (1950, 1952) aan elke Jood waar ook ter wereld de Isra\u00eblische nationaliteit toekent. Daardoor bezit Isra\u00ebl een leger van onderhorigen over de hele aardbol. Velen van hen (niet allen!) verwerpen kritiek op Isra\u00ebl als \u2018antisemitisme\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ik vroeg panelleden wat ze dachten over het aanhoudingsbevel tegen de Isra\u00eblische eerste-minister, door het Internationaal Strafhof van Den Haag. Asar El Saqqa aarzelde niet: \u201cToo late\u201d, \u201cTe laat, er zijn al 45.000 doden gevallen, zoveel vernietigd\u201d. Daar kon ik niets op antwoorden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Deze tentoonstelling is nog te bezoeken tot 7 december (19-22 u).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Films door Eye On Palestine en Labo vzw in Sphinx Cinema:<br>Op 25 november zag ik een documentaire over de systematische vernieling van bewoonde huizen in Palestijnse dorpen, door bulldozers van het Isra\u00eblisch leger, op de Westelijke Jordaanoever, de avant-premi\u00e8re van No other land, gefilmd door Palestijnse activist Basel Adra en zijn Isra\u00eblische vriend Yuval Abraham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trailer van No Other Land (2:05):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"&quot;No Other Land&quot; | Trailer | Berlinale 2024\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7AS6v3hC86Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Militairen in gevechtsuitrusting gaan de bulldozers vooraf en houden de bewoners op afstand. Soms kunnen die nog wat huisraad redden, maar de gebouwtjes gaan op enkele minuten tegen de vlakte. Ook gewapende Joodse kolonisten zaaien terreur. We zien hoe ze een Palestijnse bewoner van dichtbij neerschieten (hij zal aan zijn verwondingen sterven). We zien ook hoe ze een waterbron opvullen met cement. Het ene na het andere dorp wordt vernield.
