Andrew Feinstein is een voormalig Zuid-Afrikaans parlementslid van het ANC, activist, filmmaker en auteur, nu gevestigd in Londen. Hij is uitvoerend directeur van Shadow World Investigations, een organisatie die onderzoek doet naar de wapenhandel en de corruptie die daarmee gepaard gaat en zit in het bestuur van Declassified UK. Als zoon van een overlevende van de Holocaust was Feinstein het eerste parlementslid dat een motie over de Holocaust indiende in het Zuid-Afrikaanse parlement. Hij is auteur van het boek ‘The Shadow World: Inside the Global Arms Trade’ (2011), dat door de Belgische filmmaker Johan Grimonprez werd verfilmd tot de documentaire Shadow World. Feinstein schreef mee aan de film en speelt er zelf ook een rol in. Hij is mederedacteur van het boek ‘Monstrous Anger of the Guns: How the Arms Trade Is Ruining the World and What We Can Do About It’.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In deze keynote neemt Andrew Feinstein de Isra\u00eblische wapenindustrie onder de loep. Isra\u00ebl behoort tot de top 10 wapenexporteurs ter wereld. De wapens worden op de markt gebracht als getest op het slagveld. Isra\u00ebl is ook een grote importeur van wapens, hoewel het al jaren op grote schaal het internationaal (humanitair) recht schendt en de wapens gebruikt in zijn koloniale oorlog tegen de Palestijnen. In this keynote, Andrew Feinstein will take a look at the Israeli arms industry. Israel is among the world’s top 10 arms exporters. Its weapons are marketed as battlefield tested. Israel also remains a major importer of arms even though it has been committing widespread violations of international (humanitarian) law for years, using the weapons in its colonial war against the Palestinians. He will explain what can or should be done, discuss the need for a military embargo and how actions for Palestine are part of a wider intersectional struggle against the global national security elite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
