Deze performance, een project in ontwikkeling, brengt een speculatief narratief tot leven waarin Antarah ibn Shaddad, de gevierde Arabische dichter en krijger uit de pre-islamitische periode (\u2018Asr al-Jahiliyyah, 525\u2013608 n.Chr.), een onbekend luchtverschijnsel (UAP) tegenkomt tijdens een moment van eenzaamheid op het slagveld. De UAP, zowel cryptisch als po\u00ebtisch, communiceert met Antarah in de structuur van zijn eigen verzen en geeft een raadselachtige waarschuwing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
De muziek, uitgevoerd met synthesizers, Arabische toonladders en zang\u2014zowel rauw als bewerkt\u2014verkent het snijvlak tussen traditionele en hedendaagse vormen. Het reflecteert op de tijdloze essentie van orale po\u00ebzie en de connectie met geluid en ritme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
De performance bevat visuele elementen die het landschap van het slagveld, de figuur van Antarah en de aankomst van de UAP afbeelden. Geprojecteerde tekst vertelt het verhaal en verankert het publiek in de voortgang van de vertelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Als een project in ontwikkeling streeft deze performance ernaar culturele verhalen door een kritische lens opnieuw te onderzoeken. Het verbeeldt Antarah\u2019s verhaal als een ruimte om systemen van dominantie, uitwissing en controle die door de tijd heen voortduren, ter discussie te stellen. Door pre-islamitische tradities aan te gaan en deze te contextualiseren in nieuwe artistieke uitdrukkingen, nodigt het werk uit tot reflectie op hoe verhalen kunnen dienen als medium om erfgoed te herwinnen en machtsstructuren te bevragen. De waarschuwing van de UAP fungeert als een provocatie\u2014uitdagend ons te overwegen hoe cycli van geweld, uitsluiting en verzet door de geschiedenis heen weerklinken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Marah:
Olijfboom is een compositie die zijn oorsprong vond in Palestina in 2023. Begonnen vanuit improvisatie, bereikte het langzaam zijn eerste structuur, waarin het lichaam de klank ontmoette in Taal: geen brobleem\u2014een theaterperformance gecre\u00eberd door Marah in 2024. Met de oud, contrabas, gitaar en een loopstation zal beweging de klank begeleiden, ondersteund door een stroom van woorden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
De geprojecteerde tekst en de ruimtelijk uitgevoerde gebaren dragen de klanken van Olijfboom door de ruimte en cre\u00ebren een sfeer waarin de sensaties van het olijfseizoen tot leven komen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Olive tree is a composition that started its way in Palestine in 2023. Starting from improvisation, it slowly arrived at its first structure where the body met the sound in Language: no broblem- a theater performance created by Marah in 2024.
