Ze woont in Jeru\u00adza\u00adlem en Berlijn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We worden vergezeld door twee gastsprekers om het gesprek te openen over voedselsoevereiniteit, koloniale technologie\u00ebn en voorouderlijk verzet:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fairouz Gazdallah<\/strong> is organiserend lid van <em>Back2SoilBasics<\/em>, een collectief dat geworteld is in agro-ecologie, voedselsoevereiniteit en ecologische rechtvaardigheid. Het collectief zet zich in om diasporagemeenschappen in Belgi\u00eb opnieuw te verbinden met het land, ecologische kennis en collectieve zorgpraktijken via workshops, boerderijbezoeken en gemeenschapsbijeenkomsten. Vanuit dit werk benadert zij voedselsystemen als diep politieke ruimtes die gevormd zijn door geschiedenissen van onteigening, verzet en veerkracht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Danya Nadar<\/strong> is PhD-kandidaat aan het Instituut voor Ontwikkelingsbeleid (IOB, Universiteit Antwerpen) en technisch assistent voor het FRICTION-project. Haar werk richt zich op hoe inheemse boeren hun voorouderlijke ecologische kennis inzetten om weerstand te bieden aan koloniale en kapitalistische inbreuk op hun grondgebied. Danya deed eerder onderzoek naar zaden en zadenbibliotheken bij het agrarisch onderzoekscentrum van Palestina, waarbij ze onderzocht hoe landrelaties in verschillende regio&#8217;s worden behouden en herijkt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Talen: Engels, Noors, Arabisch<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Onder\u00adti\u00adte\u00adling: Engels<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(ENG) Deep in the earth beneath the Arctic permafrost, seeds from all over the world are stored in the Svalbard Global Seed Vault to provide a backup should disaster strike. Wild Relatives starts from an event that has sparked media interest worldwide: in 2012 an international agricultural research center was forced to relocate from Aleppo to Lebanon due to the Syrian Revolution turned war, and began a laborious process of planting their seed collection from the Svalbard back-ups. Following the path of this transaction of seeds between the Arctic and Lebanon, a series of encounters unfold a matrix of human and non-human lives between these two distant spots of the earth. It captures the articulation between this large-scale international initiative and its local implementation in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon, carried out primarily by young migrant women. The meditative pace patiently teases out tensions between state and individual, industrial and organic approaches to seed saving, climate change and biodiversity, witnessed through the journey of these seeds. Film by <strong>Jumana Manna<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>We will be joined by two guest speakers to open up a conversation on food sovereignty, colonial technologies, and ancestral resistance:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fairouz Gazdallah<\/strong> is an organizing member of Back2SoilBasics, a collective rooted in agroecology, food sovereignty, and environmental justice. The collective works to reconnect diaspora communities in Belgium, to land, ecological knowledge, and collective care practices through workshops, farm visits, and community gatherings. Through this work, she engages with food systems as deeply political spaces shaped by histories of dispossession, resistance, and resilience.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Danya Nadar<\/strong> is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Development Policy (University of Antwerp) and technical assistant for the FRICTION project. Her work focuses on how Indigenous peasants use ancestral ecological knowledge to resist colonial and capitalist encroachments.
